trouble playing embedded videos

Postby qoocookie » Sun Dec 05, 2004 5:32 am

I can't play embedded videos anymore. In fact, I can't play most video files I get. It just tells me that Windows Media Player has encountered a problem and needs to close.

I'm using the newest windows media player. I don't have any viruses and adaware and spybot scans show pretty much what I get everytime. Any suggestions?

Yes I think its a codec problem.

Download this program:

Open the video with this and see what codec is needed to run it. Then install that codec.
(\__/) This is Bunny.
(='.'=) Copy and paste bunny into your sig.
(")_(") Help Bunny gain World Domination.

Thanks for pointing me to that program, PC guy. I think, unless I'm reading this wrong, it doesn't really say what kind of codec to run.

In the file box, the stat area says that the file is ASF (.WMA/.WMV). Every field in the video box says n/a and the stream type and A/V Interleave box says the type is video/x-ms-asf. The two other fields say n/a. There's nothing else in amu pf the fields.

Is this a video I should be able to play?

Do you have any other media players installed ? If not, download one like and configure it through Options >Preferences>file types and see if the files will play in a different media player.

Thanks for the pointers! I can play the video files now, though i haven't had the chance to test an embedded video yet.
