Defrag won't run says chkdsk is scheduled?

Postby saltfish » Fri Sep 05, 2003 3:41 am

okay my second drive will not defrag, diskkeeper says chkdsk is scheduled to run on next reboot. After several reboots, it still hasn't run, after I force it to run from command prompt, I still get the error chkdsk is scheduled. I removed all references to autoboot in the regisrty, but still no luck. Can anyone tell me how to remove the scheduled chkdsk.

Thanks

I had this very same problem.

Eventually, I tried booting XP into Safe mode. Normally safe mode boots relatively quickly, this time there was a delay (I assume this was the outstanding disk check being carried out), the safe mode boot didn't complete, instead the PC rebooted and went straight to normal mode...

At the desktop, I immediately went to Defrag, which ran successfully, without that error message!

Worth a try!
