Desktop Problems With Macromedia Flash Player 7

PostPosted: Thu Nov 11, 2004 2:50 am

Somehow I have managed to open up a game running on Macromedia Flash Player 7 and that game has now become a permanent icon on my desktop which has attached itself to the top of the screen. I can make it very small so it is basically out of the way but it has changed some other desktop icon settings as well and no matter where I go to correct the settings, I cannot get rid of the game or get my settings back to normal. I feel like I've done everything I know how to do which is considerable - but this one has me baffled. I am running Windows XP (Home Edition) on a new emachine. Can anyone help???

Have you tried to Remove the game from ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS?

Right-click the Game ICON that is on your Desktop...choose PROPERTIES

Cut and Paste the contents of the TARGET box and post the info back here in your thread.

First, there is no "game icon" just the actual game which I have re-sized way down to get it as small as possible - when I right click on the actual game all I get are details for Macromedia Flash Player - but here is the actual game itself:

Maybe that will help ????

Hi mparegian ...

Please download Hijackthis
---Important---Create a permanent folder
EG---- Open MyDocuments----Right click an empty spot and select NEW---Folder----Name the new folder HJT ---this is where you will want to save Hijackthis too, also, backups will be stored there.
Download from here
http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.exe

Do a SCAN----Scan will change to SAVE LOG----copy and paste the WHOLE contents of the log
here... Don't try and fix anything yet----most entries are harmless and needed.

OK - I ran LSP Fix which caused my system to go completely haywire and I have been restoring the system ever since. So since I did manage to get it restored to a previous date, my problem with the desktop game icon is now gone - I probably should have just done that to start with. Thanks for your help anyway.

Sometimes spyware or adware can install programs on your PC that make it impossible for you to connect to the Internet reliably. This malicious software is known as a Layered Service Provider(which were all the 010 Entries in your HJT Logfile, and can be fixed using a utility called LSP-Fix.
If you still couldn't connect to the internet ... you could have written down the list of the files LSP-Fix had found and posted them here in your thread and we could have helped you fix thoughs.
But that's ok seems you have Restored and fixed your problem...
