Not keeping time

Postby Geekgirl » Sun Nov 07, 2004 5:34 pm

Had a HP that was caught in Ivan's flood. It wasn't totally immersed in water but did have some in the case about an inch.
This particular board has the cmos battery at the bottom where it could of had been under the water. I noticed right away it wasn't keeping time so I changed the battery. Reset the time and kept my eye on it and assumed that was all it needed.
Unfortunately it is still not keeping time, any ideas whats going on with it?

Thanks for replies in advance

Is the TIME ZONE correct?

Double-click the time in the task-bar;
Click on the "time zone" tab;
Change it to the correct time zone and hit "ok".

I believe it did more damage than I first thought.

The pc didnt reconize her 2 cd drives and after replacing the IDE cable it did reconize them. She has 3 unknown usb devices and she apparently used the F12 option at boot which I believe was system restoration. I have no idea what she did, I only repaired what she asked me to do which was get the cd drives working and I did take it upon myself to replaced CMOS battery.
O I defiantely told her the pc has issues but she just wanted it back up and running again with the drives all working.
I did this work free of charge as she was a flood victim and I do have a heart :wink:
