Postby n82 » Fri Oct 15, 2004 4:50 pm

hi, my pc is compaq presario 6505uk, and it's gone a bit wonkey (again), I want to do a full recovery to get it back to how it was when i got it, problem is i don't have a disc. I used to be able to do it from start up but it won't work anymore. Anyone know how or where i could get a recovery cd?

I think your best bet is to contact HP and explain the situation to them and ask for a replacement CD.

Probably not unfortunately - have you reinstalled windows or used any partitioning tools which may have wiped the hidden partition containing the backup data?

Read this:

Compaq FAQ: Steps to Restore Drive C: from SystemSave D: Partition (FAQ3466)

http://web14.compaq.com/falco//detail.a ... um=FAQ3466

Let's not refer to this partition as "hidden " when in fact it's right there in full view as the " D: " drive, or "system save " with nothing more than the restore disk(s) cab files.

Let us know...

it's telling me to...
Double-click the Presario Support icon on the desktop.
Double-click the QuickRestore icon.
Click System Utilities.
Insert a blank, formatted diskette in the diskette drive.
Click Recovery Diskette to create the diskette.

i can't find the presario support icon on the desktop
is there any way to find it? from run or something?
