Printer setup problem

Postby idea3 » Sat Oct 09, 2004 4:03 pm

Hi
I have no connection betwen my laser printer and my laptop anymore. I have windows XP on my laptop which was connected via router (with cables) with my printer. I also have a mac which I was able to print from with the same method.
Now I installed the wireless router, which killed my ability to print from my mac, but most importendly, I can't print from my PC laptop anymore. I connect it directly to the printer, but nothing hapens. I am thinking it might be the port on the Brother printer window. It still searches for the old router link. How do I change that?
Or how can I fix this problem?
any help will be appreciated.
thanx

Welcome aboard idea3, :)

I would suggest that you first try adding a new printer to your laptop from the
control panel’s printer/fax icon.

Select a network printer and see if it finds the laser printer that is on the network.
If does find it go ahead and finish installing this new printer and just delete the old one
but do not delete the drivers.

If it does not find the network printer then we will need some more information.

Is this printer connected to a computer on the network or is it a stand a lone network printer?

If the printer is connect to a computer on the network can you connect to that computer?

Hi idea3 Image

Have you tried to remove the printer and drivers from the laptop and the mac and reinstall them? Also remove any files left over from the old router.

Thank you guys for your help...

What I did is, I downloaded a new driver, trashed the old one and reinstalled. Works perfectly now.

I am wondering what I have to do print on this printer from my Mac? Both comps are on the network.
Thanx agian :)

I forgot to mention: My laser printer is connected directly (by cable) with PC Laptop
and two computers by wireless router.

So the printer has a network print server integrated into it? What macOS are you using?
