It says here
System Requirements
"Supported Operating Systems: Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003"
But yet it says this
Overview
SUS 1.0 with SP1 is designed to simplify the process of keeping your Windows-based computer up to date with the latest critical updates. SUS 1.0 with SP1 enables administrators to quickly and reliably deploy critical updates to their Windows 2000-based servers as well as to desktop computers running Windows 2000 Professional or Windows XP Professional.
Very confusing to know which O.S. it is supporting

Yes... really I think it is a mistake. I have windows XP Pro SP2, I will tell you what happened when I install this SUS. But I think it supports win XP, since it supports windows 2000.

You can't always assume, it says
SUS 1.0 with SP1 enables administrators to quickly and reliably deploy critical updates to their Windows 2000-based servers as well as to desktop computers running Windows 2000 Professional or Windows XP Professional.
The way I see it I would say XP Home wasn't supported but XP Pro was.

Hey I've got news: Infact windows XP is not supported. When you try to install SUS you will get an error - Unable to install Microsoft Software Update Service. You mut be running Windows Server 2003 or Windows 2000 Server, Service Pack 2.
Really confusing

It's their mistake hehe

SUS is a server component for windows server operating systems - hence it can only be run on windows server 2000 or 2003. However it's purpose it to allow you to deploy service packs & patches to other system on your network remotely - those systems can be windows XP and others. So it will patch most versions of windows, but will only itself run on windows 2000 or 2003 server.
Hope this clears it up!
