Just wondering... did you defragment?? Cause I have read where peeps comps were fragmented SEVERELY, and they say it runs MUCH faster now that they have defragmented...something to try!

I've got SP2 & have had no such problems - have you tried using msconfig to run a basic startup & see if it is some startup program or service causing you problems?

That sounds fine - have you tried downloading SiSoft Sandra and running the disk benchmark. This will tell you whether there is a real problem with the transfer rate of your hard drive.

Have you tried a diagnostic startup yet?

It's not the fastest drive in the world, but it's not that slow that it would cause you real problems.

Have you tried starting up in safe mode?
