Hi,

I have recently purchased a brand new tower server to be the hub of my 5 PC Office Network. The business is run almost entirely via e-mail and address contacts within outlook! With around 900 e-mails every 6 months! The address contact list is also massive! Anyway each of the "client" pc's are around 1.2ghz AMD Athlon with at least 256mb ram, except one pc that has a 500mhz P3 MMX and 256mb Ram. 4 of them have 20gb HD's and one has a 40GB (the 500mhz machine, which is infrequently used with e-mail, mainly just as a printer computer)

They are all networked up via an business ADSL router/hub, linked to an additional simple netgear 10 tbase switch.

They are all communicating fine, except one of the computers, a laptop which will be addressed at a later date!

Anyway to the point you say! It is vital that the e-mail that comes into the network and is read etc is accessable and viewable with little fuss on all computers linked up to the network. The main reason for buying the server was that I was told it was possible to have the server collect all the e-mail and the other computers access it as well, something about SMTP or something like that! The server is running the afformentioned OS along with Microsoft Exchange and Outlook 2003. Each client is running Windows XP Pro SP2 with Office 2003 Professional, except the 500mhz machine, which is running 98SE.
The computers were previously setup to have their e-mail and address contacts "syncronized and shared" by a program called OSASync Pro.

See www.vaita.com for more info.

Anyway the pitfall of this system that instead of storing the information in one central location and having each computer look at it when needed, OSASync instead distributed any files around the network to each computer, so they each had a copy, this ground each computer and the network to a standstill, so I have reformated the lot.

What I would like to know is how to configure the e-mail to work so that the e-mail goes like this

E-mail From Net----SERVER-----OUTLOOK-----CLIENT COMPUTERS

has any of this made any sense?

If it hasnt, please post on here and perhaps we can sort something out, maybe I could give you a ring or vice versa.

Your help is greatly appreciated and thanks for your time in reading all this!

Mike

Actually, this is simple. How much Exchange experience do you have? If not much, perhaps we can make an arrangement that I can log onto the server remotely and fix it.

If you are wondering my credentials, pm me your email and I can fill you in on what I do for a living and how I can help.

If you have a good deal of Exchange experience, I can point you in the right direction.

As PCGuy says, what you want to do is dead easy but if you haven't got any experience atall you run the risk of either not setting things up optimally, or at worst leaving yourself open to attack/exploits from the web. Probably best to get helpf rom PCGuy for this one :)
