IE only allowing one browser window open at a time

Postby agengo » Tue Jun 22, 2004 6:57 pm

I've been plagued with spyware and have been following instructions to remove it. That was yesterday.

Now when I open Internet Explorer and try to open another browser window, the first one closes. Has anyone heard of this?

How about this:
Open IE / Tools / Internet Options / Advanced Tab / Uncheck: "Reuse window for launching shortcuts".

It was already unchecked. I have a quick launch icon I use to open IE. I click it once to open a browser. When I click it again to open another browser, the first one closes.

Can you open a new window from the "File" menu in IE?

Yes, a new window opens on top of the previous window. Same thing happens if I right click on "Open in new window". I think I've been infected with a Trojan and it's gotten worse.

Try deleting the shortcut in your Quicklaunch Bar, then create a new one and drag it back there.
If that doesn't do it then let's have a look:
Download and install: . Now Run it and post a copy of the Log File here.
**(Always create a Folder for HiJackThis anywhere but your Temp/Temporary Internet Folders. This is where it will save the backup files needed if there's a problem.)**
