Despite accessing the internet through a broadband router, with firewall enabled, my computers IP address is still visible to external sites, I have Zone Alarm, however do not use it with the broadband router, but i disabled the routers one and put zone alarm up, and it didnt help anythin, even with BOTH firewalls up!
why!

A firewall doesnt hide your IP,it closes and blockes access to open ports. You can look into "IP Spoofing" or "Anonymous Internet Surfing".You shouldnt be all that concerned though unless your doing things you shouldnt be

There are 2 IPs that we need to talk about when discussing routers. Your Local IP (probably something like 192.168.1.X) and your external IP. If your local IP is being pulled through your router, you may have a security issue. The external IP has to be seen. That bunch of 4 numbers/dots is the ONLY way to get information back to you. If your external IP gets blocked then absolutely nothing could ever get back to your computer.
get your internal IP by going to start - run - command (enter) then type IPCONFIG
your external IP address can be seen (type myipaddress.com - no http:// or www, just myipaddress.com
