Start up problem

When I start my HP Pavilion DV&-1334us computer, I get a dialog box pop up asking which program I want to open the file; if I chose notepad, it opens the interface list. The file it looks to open is the file "XXXX" where XXXX is the User name

is there any way to determine what software/device is attempting to open a file on startup? Thanks.

Phil

the question is which of the 13 start up items would be the culprit?
any way to tell without having to stop each item individually and restarting the computer each time? Thanks

from what I can tell, here is the culprit:

"C:\Windows\system32\rundll32.exe" C:\Windows\system32\shell32.dll,OpenAs_RunDLL C:\Users\Philip

can anyone tell me how to turn this off? If I deselect everything in msconfig, the window still pops up. Thanks.

Ok; figured it out myself; in case anyone has a similar issue:
somehow, an extra user account was created on my computer under the name Philip; once I deleted that user name under C:\Users, the popup window disappeared! Thanks.
