game won't play

Postby noby » Mon Mar 15, 2004 8:33 am

I have a game that runs well under Win98, but on a winXP machine tells me I have to install it when I want to play from CD, but when I try to install it, it tells me it must not be installed for this OS.
I don't know how to get it going, but was there not an option somewhere in Xp "win 95 compatible mode" or something alike?

thx

Start / Programs / Accessories / "Program Compatibility Wizard".

Right click its icon under the Programs menu, then select Properties from the resulting menu.
Now, click the Compatibility tab. You can choose what version of Windows you want XP to pretend to be.

This usually works about 50% of the time, so don't bet the preverbal farm on it.
Another suggestion is to update your program. What about updated drivers for your sound card?

Alas, I tested with the compatibility wizard in all modes and options, but no. I just now set the compatibility properties but still no go

Suggestions?

You're right again as usual. I was already mailing them for a solution, but they told me in 4 times the same as you in 2, but right now there's a guy over there that remembered(?!?) they had a patch for it So now it works

thanks BRAD
