RUNDLL - Error loading C:\WINDOWS\ehamujoyexamecu.dll

PostPosted: Sat May 01, 2010 5:17 pm

Duh, teenagers and their computers :wobble: ! Amongst a number of problems my daughter has to put up with the following on boot; an error dialogue box stating, "RUNDLL - Error loading C:\WINDOWS\ehamujoyexamecu.dll. The specified module could not be found". A search couldn't find any info on ehamujoyexamecu.dll but it looks something from an education origin. Anyway, this is followed by another dialogue box stating, "Error - Information file not found". Closing the boxes causes no problems but it would be nice not to have them popping up. Any help appreciated.

Oh, she runs Win XP home.

carol,

This is most likely a leftover from some spyware infection, easy to fix.
Google's only result on ehamujoyexamecu.dll was this thread.

Please download HijackThis http://downloads.malwareremoval.com/hijackthis.zip and save it to your desktop.

To extract HijackThis:

1. Right-click your file HijackThis.zip and from the menu select "Extract All".
2. The Extraction Wizard Window will appear, Click "Next".
3. Click Browse and navigate to "C:\" or the "C:\Program Files" and click "Create A New Folder" and call it "HJT" or "HijackThis" or whatever that is easy to remember and then click OK.
4. Click the Extract button.
5. Close the HijackThis.zip dialogue box.

Now double-click on hijackthis.exe and when the window opens, Press the Scan now and save a logfile button and then when it is done, copy and paste the contents of the notepad it opens as a reply to this post.

carol,

I see in you log that the ehamujoyexamecu.dll problem is gone.
However I also see that you have something new in your log that makes me believe that you have some type of spyware infection.

Please download to your desktop.
Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.

If combofix will not start or is ended before the "Blue window" please rename combofix.exe to cbf.exe and try again.

If cbf.exe will not start or is ended, you will have to run cbf.exe from safe mode.
Reboot in to Safe mode:
Restart Windows after you see the BIOS screen and before Windows starts to load.
Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears.
Use the Arrow key to ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.

Do not exit Combofix while it is running you my loose all your personal settings!
Important Note - Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running, that may cause it to stall.

When it's done running it will produce a log for you. Please post that log in your next reply.

Thanks for all your help  ! The RUNDLL dialogue has now stopped and it's also resolved another two problems concerning a dial-up connection request and a really annoying browser re-directer :cheerleader: .

Unfortunately, she's still getting the other dialogue box, "Error - Information file not found". This seems to be linked to some mediachecker program which she messed up uninstalling called HOTALBUM (I think she couldn't find the uninstall and just deleted the folders). It came with her camera. It's not malicious. We ran HijackThis and ticked the box to remove it but it still re-appears in Startup. We can stop the dialogue box popping up by unticking it from Startup but we'd prefer to remove it if we can.

Edit: Duh! Spoke too soon. The dialler has returned. On boot the Dial Up Connection box comes up requesting dial up connection to MSN. She uses MSN but we're on cable. I may re-post this as a new topic as it's probably completely separate to these problems.

carol,

The "Error - Information file not found" can easily by fixed by deleting the link found in the following path:
c:\documents and settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\MediaChecker.lnk

As for the dial-up problem, this actually sound like a setting in the MSN/Internet Options account information.
Try, Start > Control Panel (clasic view) > Internet Options > Connections Tab
That is where the dial-up entry most likely is.
Make sure you copy the dial-up information before you remove the entry Just In Case.
