ok, first of all, now im dreaming computers...

lastnight i tried the sticks and 500mhz processor from my other pc on the pc in question, and, NADA, the screen wouldnt even go on, im thinking its because i have two slots for prosos, and only one proso.

So then i put the two prosos back in and left the sticks in and it turned on but did the same thing, back to the blinking cursor.

No beeps when i turn it on.

This is what it says though:Adaptec AIC-7896 SCSI BIOS v2.201b1
then it says to press ctrl (a) for SCSI Utility

then the (i guess) system check starts, and it says,
extended memory-passed
cache sram-passed
system bios shadowed
video bios shadowed
(is it supposed to be shadowed?)

then another screen comes up and it says:Phoenix Bios 4.0 Release 6.0
Copyright 1985-2000 Phoenix Technologies
L440GX0.86B.0105.P11.0002071708
L440GX+Production Release 11.2
Bios Build 105
ok, now my question is, which one of these bios numbers is the one for the mobo.
and, just because both prosos are the same make, does it mean it should work in both comps?
also do i need to have both installed since the mobo has two slots?

You have a SCSI card installed what is it used for?
This could be part of the problem if the drivers for the SCSI device are corrupt.

It could be a bad ram stick;
Go to and download the file to create the boot device of your choice (floppy/CD)
Create the boot device media and reboot from that media.
Let memtest run at least an hour to get true results.

if you mean i have SCSI card installed in one of the slots, then no i have all those slots empty at the moment.

But i dont know what SCSI means yet so i will read about it now then i'll get back to you on why i have it installed.

Im downloading memtest now and will post results when completed.

thanks for the link, Gecko.

Nope, no SCSI cards installed...
Dont know why it would say this.

But its doing the memtest right now as we speak, and its been doing it for about 6hours now, while ive been at work.
Im not sure what to do though,
It has some seven digit codes all down the left side of the screen, im not sure what to do with these.

but here they are:
@X:100A
AX:0212
BX:6200
CX:0101
DX:0100.
and it keeps goin down the side like this concurrently.

Am i safe to assume that fixing this comp will get expensive,
i'm thinking, i should just start on the "New Build"?

I bought a new mobo, but it was an impulse buy and im not realy sure if i made the right choice.

here is a link to my specs.

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a20/Il ... img006.jpg

is this compatible with -intel celeron 2.5ghz or 2.7ghz processors,
because ihappen to have two of these laying around?
and when it says DDR does it mean it will only except that type of stick?
