Re-loading Sony XP apps

Postby pdeinc » Thu Feb 19, 2004 4:51 pm

I couldn't stand the XP any more on my newly acquired Sony laptop and decided to upgrade to W2K. Unfortunately, that's not truly an upgrade in M$ world, the XP was newer than my copy of W2k, so I had to do a new install.

That's fine for the most part and I was able to load all the Sony drivers from the backup CDs once I had 2000 up and running. But now I want to reload some of the bundled apps that came with the laptop but that CD will not run, protesting that it's not designed to run on this OS.

Any suggestions?

Do you have true install CD's for the applications you want to install or a factory restore disk? If it is a factory restore CD I don't believe you will be able to do what you want to do.

It's the Sony CDs that came with the laptop. They cover system, application and hardware. I had suspected what you say may be true but am hoping there's a workaround. Maybe I'll go browse the Sony site but I don't expect to find anything fruitful there.
