explorer will not load

Postby kevin71 » Sun Dec 06, 2009 1:15 am

hi all, I am running winxp pro, explorer refuses to load, I get the desktop wall paper, no icons, no start menu. I can get task manager but when I go to run a new task nothing happens. I have run windows repair installation to no avail. I have now set the hdd with the faulty start up as my slave drive and run various scans on it, avg 9, superantispyware, registry mechanic, all return clean results and when I set that hard drive as my main one I still get the same results. I have a lot of info on that hard drive and would not like to go through all the headaches of transferring all information onto new hdd. Is there anyone out there in pc land who knows how to rectify this annoying issue

Thanks in advance

Kevin

in all honesty, i only see a solution that you was trying to avoid. Maybe theres a miracle fix out there somewhere but im just not aware of it and i far from know everything. I apologize for not having more to offer. If explorer wont load in safe and repair install didnt help i would wipe it and be done. This is of course shop talk and doing whats efficient via time vs money.
