file keeps reappearing after reboots

Postby ansmwke » Wed Nov 28, 2007 3:45 am

I have a MP3 file on my desktop. i put it in the trash and emptied the trash
everytime i reboot(i think thats what is happening) the file reappears on my desktop.

the file will keep copying each reboot. ie. file.mp3, file(1).mp3 file(2).mp3...

how would i go about deleting this, ive scanned it for viruses and it said it did now have one...

thanks in advance :)

Not that I have an answer for you, but I had a similar situation with a folder. Except the folder would reappear after deleation mere minutes after I did so, and would always be there after a reboot. After Deleting it over 100 times, I decided that my system needed a full format anyways lol. Mind you, I had that folder on my desktop for months before it drove me nuts lol. The only thing I can suggest is that theres an error somewhere that when you delete it, it is not being overwritten, and it saved and you must delete it perminately. A HD will save what you delete until something is written over it in the same spot. There are programs that will help you truely "delete" stuff. Or, try defraging the system/scandisk or get TuneUp Utilities 2007 (worth the money that program is awesome) Hope that helps!
