What's running in the background? I really suspect spyware. Are you using ? If not try it and remember to update.
When you say you cleaned out all the junk, what did you do?
Have you installed any programs recently?
What about Viruses? Have you updated and ran your AV program?
I doubt if your Pics are the problem...What are you system specs.?

It's always good to know the Operating System / Amount of Ram / Size of Hard Drive / Processor and speed / And anything special pertaining to the system. I know you posted most of this the first time....I'm just trying see if you had anything else/special.
Did you run ? You say you have it, what does it find when it runs? What were the two things that Hijackthis found?
It also sounds like you have a lot of programs running in the background. Webshots is one....It doesn't need to run all the time, you can just start it when you need it. There may be many more un-needed programs starting that you can eliminate to cut down on the amount of processes windows is running. Have a look at Msconfig / Startup tab and see what you can eliminate. You can use for reference as to what can be removed. (unchecked)
Let us know... brad

Check out how RB said to check the items. One thing, AIM, loading at startup, will slow you down. You definately have too many programs running. brad

yeah, you have too many programs running for your comp, go to the preference on the programs you dont need to run all the time and tell them not to start up, when comp starts, and change the background to the default, also, go to my comp-control panel-system-advanced-performance options and make sure that the application not the background is highlighted. -LOM
