Explanation of terms needed

Postby RioKhanada » Sat Oct 08, 2005 11:30 pm

Hi everyone,

Please don't throw tomatoes at me if I posted this under the wrong heading (not sure how to classify it).

I was wondering if anyone could explain -- in layman's terms -- what a CDFS file system is and the UDF file system. I know it has to do with CD burning, and since I continue to have issues with my burning attempts, I noticed the different file system types on a couple of CDs.

How do I know what file system I will be burning to, and is there a preference? How can I make all burns burn into a particular file system?

Why did the chicken cross the road? *** sorry, couldn't resist ***

Thank you for your help!

Me again!

Postby RioKhanada » Sun Oct 09, 2005 5:15 am

Well, my CD burner is an HP CD Writer+ 8100 (came with the system). I purchased the Roxio Easy Media Creator ver. 7. I have tried and tried and tried to burn using the Creator Classic and Drag to Disk with no luck. The burn process will start and die -- gives me a bunch of error messages. Even though I should be able to continue to add data to the CD in multiple sessions, I can't do that either. It's a mess.

Does this help? I've tried everything, even re-installing the software - no luck. I turned off the IMAPI service, no luck.

Oh yeah -- I'm using Windows XP Pro 2003.

Thanks for any insight you could give me.
