updating bios

Postby bsxiong » Tue Jun 28, 2005 2:29 am

hi all,

I wanted to update my bios. but i have questions regarding the importance of it. First of, i know how to touch bios, but i didn't really get to it of why i need to update my bios. Is it recommeded to update your bios?

secondly, on my motherboard's website, there are at least five updates for my motherboards bio. Should I download and update them in order, or can i just go right ahead and download the latest one.

skies the limit,

If your system is working aok, there is no reason to flash the BIOS. Flashing the BIOS with the latest and greatest updates doen't accomplish much if you are not having any problems.

If you do decide to flash the BIOS, use the latest version, you do not need to step up to each version

The reason I caution against flashing the bios, is that when people get scared of what they are doing, they will turn off the power as a knee jerk reaction. This will leave the board in a bad way. Once you start a bios upgrade you have to finish, if you have downloaded the wrong file it will point that out and stop.

I would strongly adivse you leave it as it is. If you really want to do it, get an engineer to do it for you.
