Partutioning A Drive

Hey Everyone
I need to format my PC
But I was hoping to save pics+mp3's (about 9 gigs) too much to burn on disk
I only have one partution (C). I was curious is it possible to partution the C: without formatting to create a second drive (D) to move over my needed files.
