IE6 and firefox lose connection after about 5 minutes..HELP!

Postby fallion55 » Mon Feb 21, 2005 1:57 pm

I'm having problems with my browsers (IE6 and Firefox) connecting to the internet. Symptoms: I can connect and surf the web for about 5 minutes and then they stop working (the icon in top right keeps going but they don't find the sites). It's a really wierd bug. The icon in my taskbar is still active and enabled and when i repair the connection everything seems to work... but i can't browse.

Here's what i've done. I called my (Cable internet) isp and they said everything checked out on their end and that it has to be a hardware or software prob on my end. I scanned for and removed viruses and spyware untill Avast antivirus and Microsoft spyware removal tool both said i have 0. I had to remove several... some of them manually. I downloaded hijack this and ran it and it looks clean... to me at least. I checked my power management settings for my network card and disabled stand by mode. I downloaded and ran winsockxpfix.exe to make sure it wasn't a winsock problem. After all of that I still can't get my browsers to run longer than 5 minutes so i figured I'd post my hijack this log and maybe some guru (i'm definately not one) can offer up some suggestions. I offer my advance thanks and many prayers in return.

Heres my log:

Hello fallion55,
Welcome to PC Techforums

In order for us to help you best we will need you to download the latest HijackThis.
You will find a link to the newest HijackThis in the upper left of this forum in the “Helpful Weblinks” block.
It is also best to have HijackThis in it’s own directory off the root like this:
C:\hjt\hijackthis.exe

Once you have downloaded the latest HijackThis and placed as suggested please post a new log.
