Hello there, Windows Messenger is yet another flawed service turned on by Microsoft by default that people have found a way to exploit. Good on ya for not following that link as it is a scam just taking advantage of poor MS implementation. You can get rid of it 2 ways.
1) You can go into "services and apps" through your control panel and shut it off.
2) Or go here for and download and run this little app, it's just 22 k.
There is alot of great information on that site, browse around as it's very informative.
