IE won't allow me to view secure pages

Postby WargamerScott » Sat Dec 11, 2004 3:34 am

Greetings,

Over the last two days, I have encountered a strange problem. Whenever I try to access a secure page, be it to place an order on Amazon, or to access my web mail, I get a "The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings. "
This happens on every secure website. I have checked my IE settings and they do allow all SSL connections. I have tried disabling my Norton Internet Security, but that doesn't help (I've been using it for over 3 months, so I don't think that is the problem). Furthermore, I haven't installed any new programs the last two days.
I am using IE version 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp-sp2_rtm.040803-2158
I am also using PeoplePC Accelerated for my ISP.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried reseting your default settings?

Here is something you could try. Verify that Internet Explorer Is Using 128-Bit Encryption. In Internet Explorer on the Help menu click About Internet Explorer The level of encryption on your computer appears next to the words Cipher Strength. Verify that the Cipher Strength value appears as 128-bit If the Cipher Strength is anything less then 128-bit download the Internet to your computer's hard disk and then install it. Also here is a link from the MKB that may help »
