Can anyone tell me what these files are? If anything ever freezes on my computer these files always seem to be the culprit!! especially the last one.

appcompat.txt is just the file that is uploaded to MS when error reporting

It sounds like you might have spyware on your system

I would suggest that you download, install, update and then run

Anything ending in mdmp is a dump file. It is where MS stores all of what happened when your PC crashes.

what kind of error are you getting , or does it just stop responding ? does exsplorer.exe crash and reload? ... have you recently upgraded to service pack 2? gotten any bluescreens? .... have you checked if there could possibily be a bios update for your computer?

The other two proccess's running you listed are msn messanger and internet exsplorer id you did not know. do you have a suspend feature enabled? have you checked for virus's? ... even if you have please checkup with this website http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ just incase your antivirus software has been compromised.

Also can you get the latest version of hijackthis (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/M ... ckThis.zip) and post a logfile.

if youve never used hjt before follow these instructions
(ps save hijackthis to its own location NOT TEMP FOLDER)

1.Run hijackthis
2.click on the Scan button
3.click on the Save Log button
4.click on Start then Run and type Notepad
5.click on File and Open , locate your saved log
6.double click on it. The log file should now be opened in your Notepad.
7.copy and paste all the information to this forum.
8. WARNING : Messing around with things in hijackthis can TRASH your system please DO NOT TOUCH anything unless instructed . thanks.

the applications just stop responding, no weird popups, used houscall and it turned up 6 "infected files" but they are all "non cleanable" and associated with java, heres the hjt logfile:
