Postby o0obrian0o0 » Wed Nov 17, 2004 6:18 pm

if someone could shoot me a quick yes or no on this that would be great.

would you need any type of exstra permissions (like admin or power user) in order to use the alternate configuration for tcp/ip properties?

To set it up or make changes to it, yes. To use it on the network, no.

one more question for ya... is there a way to manually force it to alternate configuration ? or does this only kick in upon the primary failing?

The purpose of the Alternate config is so that if your PC can not locate a DHCP server, you can set the IP manually. If you set the PC to never use a DHCP server, then you wont have any alternate configs.

I hope you get that. :)
