Corrupt Internet Excplorer?

Postby Jonesey » Wed Oct 27, 2004 7:45 pm

Hi there.

Recently, as in within the last 3 or 4 days, every time I launch IE6 the Status Bar at the bottom of the screen isn't visible.

It appears if you select VIew > Status Bar from the menu, but disappears whenever a new page is launched.

Also, many pages now need to be clicked twice in order to bring up the new page.

I've updated the definitions and run a full sytem scan with both Norton Anti-Virus and Spyhunter and have successfully removed several parasites, but still the problem persists.

Running W2K with SP4 - any other info required?

Any ideas gang? Help would be very grateful.

Cheers

Colin

Once you have selected the "Show Status Bar" option select File select Close
Shutting down this way will rewrite you personal preference file.

Hi Gecko, thanks for the quick reply.

Tried as you suggested - no change - status bar not visible on every new page & launch of IE6

p.s. - forgot to mention - problem manifests itself whichever user profile is logged on, including administrator (me)

Well we tried :(

Have you checked your system for any spyware and virus?

I'm going to direct you to support page.

Hi guys,

Well basically - problem solved. Dowdloaded a new spyware/Adware remover and found 186 parasites on my hard disc.

Deleted/Quarantined them and pc is now twice as fasrt with no problems.

Thanks for the advice.

Glad you got rid of your "bugs". This obviously resolved your taskbar issues I'm assuming :)
