taskbar issues

Postby dartchucker99 » Wed Oct 20, 2004 2:40 pm

I have a problem with the taskbar. Somehow I accidentally made it wider. I want it to be one row. Now it is 2 rows. The extra spacing reduces the space I have to work with . The toolbar is not locked. I attempted dragging the top of the taskbar, but the only result is that it disappears into a thin blue line. When I do get it back, it is still double the original width. Also the quick launch use to be one row. If i want the task bar back to one row i dont have the quick launch, as soon as i enable quick launch the task bar doubles in size. Some how i change the appearance as it use to be one row with quick launch. I want it back , any ideas would be greatly appreciated as this is driving me crazy.

Have you installed TweakUI?
Just curious because those are some of the customizations its known for.
If you take your mouse and set it on a corner until it turns into a double headed arrow then drag it down then lock it,does that work?

no I have not added any tweak to it, I did something the other night and next thing i knew it was double in size, I can only move the area down till almost nothing shows , no in between adjustments. This is baffling me i tried all task bar options and nothing seems to help. I aslo ran a hijack log and now it appears that i have 03 toolbar;Norton Antivirus- {42cdd1bf-3ffb-4238-8ad17859df008 etc entry which was not there before the change took place. Would this have anything to do with it. THanks for helping.

I see one entry that might be a nasty....

O12 - Plugin for ôå: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\PLUGINS\npqtplugin3.dll

Have HJT fix this entry then empty all your TEMP Folders (WinXp has up to 4 of them) / Temporary Internet Files Folder and then empty your "Recycle Bin" and Reboot.

Run HJT again...post a fresh logfile.

Hiya dartchucker99

Not sure this will work in your situation but you can try it.
Try bringing the taskbar back up by pressing Ctrl and Esc together. This may not solve your 2-rowed problem but if its lost this will get it back.

I have found myself in the same situation from time to time when I accidently put my mouse in the taskbar and drag it up, all it does to fix the problem is just drag it back down, not sure why its not working in your situation.
