Reinstalling Windows XP Pro question

Postby Arastar » Sun Oct 17, 2004 3:11 pm

I've recently had some serious issues with XP Pro. Mainly started when I tried to overclock my processor. Now I'm crashing once in a while (never used to) and none of my previously working games will start or run. I'm wondering whether I should start again by reinstalling Windows?

Also, in doing so, will I lose all my Outlook Express stuff? Addresses, messages..etc?

Thanks!!!![/i]

Did you clock your cpu back down?

What method did you use to overclock?

What CPU is in that board and did you try to overclock the memory any?

What concerns me is possible hardware damage. If you tried to push it too hard its possible that you fried something, particularly your ram.Its not often that crashing after an OC attempt is software related.

How to save your Outlook Express Data

Postby icecube » Mon Oct 18, 2004 6:46 am

Outlook Express has some short comings. Exporting Email is one of them. Your address book is stored as a .WAB file thats easy to get. But if you want your email, you will have to have MS Office Installed. You open up Outlook (from MS Office) and import the data from Outlook Express. At that point, you can export the imported data to a PST file. Make sure that when you export the data to a pst file, that you check the box that says include subdirectories.

From there, you can import it back into a MS Office Outlook---Kiss Outlook Express goodby--it wont read a pst

I've backed up my emails loads of time. Simply find where the emails are stored then just backup that folder. After you reinstall simply import that folder back into Outlook.
