Postby gooner1 » Tue Aug 10, 2004 1:41 pm

Hi. can anyone help me with a Desktop problem. I seem to of lost my option to use the Icon Transparency on the desktop. I have tried the setting Dropped shadow and it is ticked. But still no transparency.
I'm sure i had it when i first had comp. I now dont like using pictures because they just look aughful on the Desktop.

Help please..........

Mark....

Hi gooner1 Image

Are these the steps you took to try to enable ?

"Open System Properties in Control Panel, choose the Advanced tab, and click Settings in the Performance section. Turn on the Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop option, and click Ok"

This should of worked for you..

Yes. Tried that. Thats what is so annoying. The transparency is just not working. :(
1 Thing i have just re-discovered though is. While in there i thought i would change my settings to the old Win 98 Stylee. Its amazing how much faster it runs.......Boring but faster.....

try this....

Postby hue_jass » Fri Aug 20, 2004 3:51 pm

*goto Control Panel / System / Advanced / Performance Tab / Settings Button and uncheck "drop shadows on desktop"

*change your backgroud (make sure that you aren't using Active Desktop and that its just a regular wallpaper)

*Restart computer

*then Control Panel / System / Advanced / Performance Tab / Settings Button and put a checkmark in: Use Drop Shadows for Icon Labels on the Desktop

If this doesnt work.............then your registry settings are wacked out......and well I dont know those entries @ this time. But IF thats the case give me some time and I will go look through Regedit
