pci.sys Corrupted

Hey all just hoping you all can help me.

i need to run the windows xp setup up again as i need to sort out my boot.ini file as its say its invaild when xp boots.
So i put the xp cd in the cd-rom and restart my computer. when the windows setup appears it tells me that the file pci.sys is Corrupted and xp cannot carry out the setup or something like that.

some one PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!

if the setup is failing, your disk may have somethign on it, or a scratch... try cleaning your cd (there are many oppionions on how this should be done... use your favorate method, or google it)

If you are still having re-install problems, try borrowing a friend's cd, but USE YOUR OWN LICENSE KEY!

You still may be able to save your current setup of windows, check out a thread i found on another web site



Seems you can go to recovery console and type "fixboot" which sometimes automatically re-creates the boot.ini. There are also detailed descriptions on how to create a new boot.ini file manually.
