highjacked internet connection

I posted this in security as well but since it's a xp home machine i though someone else might have had the problem...

Is it possible to hijack an internet connection and have the phone nuber rerouted or redialed to another number without you knowing?? My boss' dauhter just came back from college and he had a $2000 dollar phone bill. She uses AOL as her dial up and the phone number was not an AOL number that showed up on the phone bill. I telenetted it and this is what I got: UQKT tnt45.ewr3.da.uu.net. Also the hijack this log listed a TON of 01-hosts and had 4 refrences to a O10-highjacked internet access by new.net...

Any help??
