Hi !

Can some one tell me what I can do to over-ride my ISP to stop it downloading it's guff from it's site when I start my internet connection. I want to make sure that any link I select as I'm about to go online starts. I'm using Windows 2000. If I set the browser to any page at connection time my ISP over-rides it !

what I THINK i am hearing is that your ISP is setting your internet home page to it's main website... here are a few suggestions.

#1 - make a shortcut on your desktop/quick launch bar to whatever site you want to launch

#2 - download adaware or spybot - search and destroy and see if they are using a common form of spyware to change this setting.

#3 - check your startup program listings to see what all is running at startup... you could kill whatever program they have running on your system. Check the following page for information on what each program is, and where to look for those startup programs... BE SURE TO NOT DELETE ANYTHING PERMINATELY as your isp could be sneaky and FORCE you to run their app.


#4 - use a browser other than internet explorer. Many people swear by Mozilla and/or Opera

#5 - switch ISP's
