Slow Sluggish pc

Hello guys, hope you can help me here as i am at my wits end!!!!

pc has gone all slow and sluggish and wont play my favorite game (farcry). iam running xp and installed service pack 1 and all updates and latest drivers for everything.
weird as used to be ok.hard drive sounds very noisey and seems to take for ever to do anything now.when coming back from a screensaver or something that has pushed pc screen comes back to desktop bits at a time!!!
any help would be wonderful!
have tried another hard drive but still the same and graphics card as well.

Update your virus definitions, scan your h.d.d.
Use Disk Defragmenter to defrag your computer.
Download / Install / Update / and Run:
SpyBot

And:
Ad-aware


If you're still having problems:

Download and install: HiJackThis

Now Run it and post a copy of the Log File in the HiJackThis Support forum with a description of your problems.

(Always create a Folder for HiJackThis anywhere but your Temp/Temporary Internet Folders. This is where it will save the backup files needed if there's a problem.)
