Postby Triggez » Tue Jun 15, 2004 6:43 pm

 I reformatted my computer not too long ago and it was running nice and clean - super smooth. About 2 days ago my bro used my computer ...... and after that i spotted a stupid LYCOS SEARCH BAR omg with that dumb blue dog logo + some other stuff installed too. I managed to get rid of the lycos, but when i check my Task Manager ... i see stuff in there that i normally didn't have. There's even 1 task in there that makes my computer run EXTREMELY SLOW; i have to end task to it in order for my pc to run like it used to. And i also have WebSavingsfromEbates.exe siggggggh sum1 plz help me get rid of this unnecessary junk. Thx "A Lot" :)

Download / Install / Update / and Run:
.
And:
.

If you're still having problems:
Download and install: . Now Run it and post a copy of the Log File here.
(Always create a Folder for HiJackThis anywhere but your Temp/Temporary Internet Folders. This is where it will save the backup files needed if there's a problem.)

Ok i dled spybot and adware - good programs. I just cleaned so much junk! But in the proccess my norton just spotted a virus! (X)High Risk Virus Name: Bloodhound.Packed, Access to File was denied. I looked on the net for instructions in how to remove it, and it said to Run norton during safe mode, but when i try to reboot my computer while pressing F8, i dont get the option for booting in safe mode. I'm given the following options:

Boot from: Floppy Drive, Maxtor ..., Sony DVD ROM

I'm not given a Safe Mode option to boot from ... is that strange? ty

re log.

Postby badpolarbear » Wed Jun 16, 2004 12:33 am

One thing I noticed is you have QuickTime installed on your system. In the past when I installed QuickTime I found it slowed my pc down considerably. QuickTime is a program associated with digital cams or atleast mine was associated with my Fuji 2650 FinePix. It is not a necessary program and can be removed. Also RealPlayer can be a pain for slowing things down. It is also not a necessary program. Daniel

You needed to post the whole Log File.... It would show what Version of Windows you are running. Post the complete one after you:

First, turn off System Restore.
Then you need to remove "Twain-Tec" in Add/Remove Programs. Twiantec.dll is a transponder. HijackThis will detect it as a BHO but it must not be removed using HijackThis. This is because of the remaining registry entries and files which can be dangerous. Instead the following method of removal is preferable and complete:
Reboot the computer to Safe Mode and delete twaintech.dll and twaintec.ini If twaintech.dll is in use, then you would need to rename it, reboot the computer, and then delete it.

If Twain-Tec isn't in Add/Remove Programs do this: (From PestPatrol)

a) To permanently disable the software click "Start" and then "Run" and type the following command which unregisters the software: regsvr32 c:\windows\twaintec.dll "
b) To completely remove the software: reboot and then Find and Delete the file mxtarget.dll. For Windows2000, WindowsME and WindowsNT users:
a) To permanently disable the software click "Start" and then "Run" and type the following command which unregisters the software: "regsvr32 c:\winnt\twaintec.dll "

Reboot and Run HiJackThis again and post a new Log File.
