Locate pie chart info for multiple drives

Postby Geekgirl » Mon May 31, 2004 11:33 pm

To access information about a particular drive, you can right-click its icon in My Computer and select Properties. A multitabbed dialog box appears with all sorts of information about that drive.

On the General tab, a pie chart illustrates the amount of available and used space on the disk. This makes it very easy to quickly analyze your hard disk usage.

However, if you have multiple drives, performing this operation on each one is time-consuming. Windows XP provides the same type of pie chart display for all your drives in one tabbed dialog box. Follow these steps:

Open My Computer.
Hold down the [Ctrl] key, and select all of the drive icons.
Right-click the last drive icon, and select Properties.

The resulting dialog box will have a tab that contains a pie chart for each drive. You can also use this technique with network drives, removable disk drives, and floppy disk drives.
