Shut Down Problem

I have a problem I've recently blown my processor and replaced it with a new processor and changed the motherboard.

I loaded windows XP but it was unstable until i installed SP1, now it's fine but windows does not shutdown properly.

When it's shutting down it comes to a black screen with just cursor visisble and just crashes, so i have to shut it off manually.

Can some one help????

This is more of an avoidance of the problem than fixing it, but it still may work. the link below has several utilities that can be used to shut down windows more efficiently.

the other thing that comes to mind is simply reformat your machine. something could have gone wrong while you were installing xp again. Obviously this is not a preffered method, but if its not a hardware prob. it should work as a last resort.
