Hello moderator(s),

I (used to) have LimeWire installed on my system, and I accidentally opened a file called "Setup.exe" from a download.

Anyways... now LimeWire opens automatically and tries to send a file (God knows what) to others. I have uninstalled LimeWire since, but then it just says this every 10 seconds after I close the dialog box: Startup Error!!... Blah blabhh blahh.... LimeWire is missing a critical component.... blah bah blah.

After doing a quick Google search, I found out that I have something called the Alcra worm. Is this correct? Either way, could you please tell me how to fix this? Thanks.

P.S. I have HijackThis installed.

Hello cc481613, and welcome to our forum.

Double-click on hijackthis.exe and when the window opens, Press the Scan now and save a logfile button and then when it is done, copy and paste the contents of the notepad it opens as a reply to this post.

Im glad Gecko got you fixed up, he's the best their is.
I just wanted to point out that its truly ashame that an intrusion is possible with 12 different McAfee services running.
