possible infection???

my mates computer has recently gone a bit funky.
it has started to make a repetitive beep from inside the pc, about every 2-3 seconds, the keyboard has stopped working and after about five minutes or so internet explorer turns itself on, or as i was running a virus scan AVG brings the program list down and up. have run spybot, spywareblaster, aawse a few things found, deleted, but still the issue continues. any suggestions?

The repetitive beeping noise might be a temperture warning. Go into the BIOS and check your CPU temperature settings and see what temp your CPU is running at. F2 key or delete should get you into the BIOS. The beeping noise is almost always a hardware issue. In any case, it is not a good idea to leave the system on for any length of time.

the keyboard doesn't work, cant enter any commands through it, today the mouse has stopped working also. the beeping has now stopped. any ideas?

I only see one thing in your Hijackthis log and it would not be causing the problem.

Are you able to boot into safe mode?
Reboot in to Safe mode:
Restart Windows after you see the BIOS screen and before Windows starts to load.
Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears.
Use the Arrow key to ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.

If so does the keyboard and mouse work?

no. keyboard isn't registering at all. how can this be done if keyboard and mouse won't work, I remember back in the day a reboot a:\ drive disk would do something but his computer doesn't have an a:\ drive, befuddlement central
