Hey guys.

I was sat at my pc and I got a message from my Norton Antivirus telling me that I had a trojan virus on my PC, and that Norton took not take any action. However, I have just completed a full system scan and no virus's were found.

What should I do? Is there anyway I can get rid of it? Or has it already gone?

Thanks :)

Hello again.

Just to let you all know that I used the free online virus scan tool, on the main page of this forum and it managed to delete it for me. I checked the location of the file before and after I deleted it so I could make sure it did actually get rid of it. And Woo Yey Huzzah it did.

Bye bye

If you run Norton in safe mode, it will go after trojans.

You might also like to try Microsofts AntiSpyware Beta

You might be surprised as to what else is on your machine thats been bugging you  . Its real good on spyware toolbars.

Hey guys. I'm still having trouble, it hasn't gone like i thought it had.

I can't boot in safe mode for some reason, I spam F8 from the start and nothing happens. I can't see any other clues as to what button it might be, if it is a different button.

I have been able to get into safe mode a few times, but this happened when the computer froze during boot, and i had to restart it as it was loading Windows. It then came up with the option to boot in safe mode.

However, when I was in safe mode, it wouldn't let me run Norton Antivirus. It says "Norton Anti Virus caused a problem and has to close. WE're very sorry for any inconvenience. Report the problem to microsoft blah blah blah Send/Don't Send."

Any ideas?

In the end I just decided to reinstall windows. There was too much crap on there I didn't need anywy.

THanks for your help though Gecko :)

One more thing, I need to reinstall Norton AntiVirus, but it won't let me. I Put the CD in, the menu comes up with Install, Browse CD, or Exit. When I click install nothing happens.

I put the CD in another PC just to see if the install option worked, and it did.

Is there some file i need to delete? a registry or somehting?

Thanks :)

Norton has a removal tool
Download it, run the SymNRTtool, reboot and then install norton a/v.
It works great I've used it a number of times.
If the SymNRT fails then see page

First of all you should start your own thread it’s easier for us to follow
and you have a better chance of getting help.

With that said lets see if we can get you fixed.
Please download , unzip it to it's own folder.
Start HijackThis and select 'Do a system scan and save a logfile'
Now post the contents of the logfile back into this thread.

thanks
