My brother is away at school. He told me 'all of a sudden' these 3 icons popped up on his desktop. He deleted them and they came back. Norton antivirus was deleted from his computer. And now AIM is all messed up. The away message "OMFG (http://bestfriends.blogsite.org/bestfriends.scr) !!!!!" keeps popping up.

I sent him a few adware and spyware removers, but I dont know what else to do to fix his pc. I dont really want to send him my Norton cd.

Has anyone heard of this??

Get him to download Hijackthis
---Important---Create a permanent folder
EG---- Open MyDocuments----Right click an empty spot and select NEW---Folder----Name the new folder HJT ---this is where you will want to save Hijackthis too, also, backups will be stored there.

Do a SCAN----Scan will change to SAVE LOG----copy and paste the WHOLE contents of the log
here... Don't try and fix anything yet----most entries are harmless and needed.

Hi JROK

Have him scan his computer with . I believe that is a Virus/Trojan. He can then after using the suggestions from Cactus & Brad post a logfile.

(Always create a Folder for HiJackThis anywhere but your Temp/Temporary Internet Folders. A good place to make a folder would be in My Documents,
as this is where it will save the backup files needed if there's a problem.)

Run Ad-Aware,Spybot and goto to Trend Micro for a free scan?

I had him use spybot s&d and ad-aware already. I use them all the time, so thats the only options I could give him. I'll have him run the virus scan
