Hi robbro...

Log looks pretty clean..

You can have HJT fix the following:

Press Ctrl/Alt/Del and "End Task" or "End Process" on each of the following: (They may or may not be there)

slserv.exe

Turn off System Restore. (Turn it back on after this is repaired and you've rebooted.) Close all other open Windows and have HiJackThis Fix:

O9 - Extra button: Messenger - {4528BBE0-4E08-11D5-AD55-00010333D0AD} - C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger\yhexbmes0527.dll (file missing)
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Yahoo! Messenger - {4528BBE0-4E08-11D5-AD55-00010333D0AD} - C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger\yhexbmes0527.dll (file missing)

The next are optional, but recommended for removal,Resource hogs and not needed on startup, but does not disable the program:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime

Now delete these Folders or Files that are Highlighted: (You may need enable "Show all Files" and disable "Hide System Files" in Windows Explorer / Tools / Folder Options / View Tab) (You may have to boot to "Safe Mode" in order to delete some Files/Folders)

C:\WINDOWS\system32\slserv.exe

Now, empty all your TEMP Folders (WinXp has up to 4 of them) / Temporary Internet Files Folder and then empty your "Recycle Bin".

RESTART your computer
Post back with a Fresh hijackthis log file.

Note: By default Local Settings is a hidden folder. To display Hidden files and folders. Click My Computer. Click Tools. Click Folder Options. Click the View Tab. Click Show hidden files and folders.

1. Navigate to the users temporary directory.
2. By default the directory is located at C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp.
3. Press control-A to select all files and folders.
4. Press the delete key.

You can also GOTO START>RUN
Type: %temp% Press Enter
GOTO EDIT>SELECT ALL
click delete

Here's the location of 3 of the Temp Folders...
c:\temp\
c:\windows\temp\
c:\documents and settings\USER NAME\local settings\temp\

There is a post in the archives showing the four different Temp Folders in XP...but at the moment can't seem to find...Image

I'll find it...or someone will post...

Image...well it is a txt file...have you tried opening it and reading?
You could open it in notepad and view it.It should explain what it's associated with.
It sounds to me like a Text file generated by a game that saves the Gameplay...but I'm not sure.
Reading the TXT file will not be harmfull...
If you can not tell what app it belongs to post back with a little info from the file.

Does he play Atari Games on that pc?
Has he ever heard of Hyperstreams??

If he doesn't or hasn't then run HJT again and fix the following...

Press Ctrl/Alt/Del and "End Task" or "End Process" on each of the following: (They may or may not be there)

framework.exe

Turn off System Restore. (Turn it back on after this is repaired and you've rebooted.) Close all other open Windows and have HiJackThis Fix:

O4 - Startup: Hyperteams.lnk = C:\Program Files\Hyperteams\framework.exe

Go to Control Panel / Add/Remove Programs and remove the
following if they are there:

Hyperteams
framework

Now delete these Folders or Files that are Highlighted: (You may need enable "Show all Files" and disable "Hide System Files" in Windows Explorer / Tools / Folder Options / View Tab) (You may have to boot to "Safe Mode" in order to delete some Files/Folders)

C:\Program Files\Hyperteams\framework.exe

Now, empty all your TEMP Folders (WinXp has up to 4 of them) / Temporary Internet Files Folder and then empty your "Recycle Bin".

RESTART your computer
Post back with a Fresh hijackthis log and let us know how he's doing.
