Explorer has caused an error in MBLOCUSR.DLL

Postby lexus_digger » Thu Jul 01, 2004 7:05 am

Got this msg, after hitting the "close" button on it, then my screen goes to full black. I have latest Noton Anti-virus guided and behind the firewall most of time, suspect this is due to the spyware, that I have fighted with in the last couple of days. I have SpyRD and ADWare installed and it seems the "V2X" cannot be fixed by them. I am still getting many annoying pop ups ...

Now, this "Explorer" error thing, really drive me crazy .... Without re-format the disk, any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance

Here's my HJK log ...

Turn off System Restore. (Turn it back on after this is repaired and you've rebooted.)
(This would also include the “GoBack” Program if it is installed.)
Close all other open Windows and have HiJackThis Fix:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,HomeOldSP = about:blank
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {D157330A-9EF3-49F8-9A67-4141AC41ADD4}_ - (no file)
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {BECD7FB6-D67E-4104-A8AD-0DBC10251438}_ - (no file)
N1 - Netscape 4: user_pref("browser.startup.homepage","http://www.mixsearch.com"); (C:\Program Files\Netscape\Users\default\prefs.js)
O1 - Hosts: 69.20.16.183 auto.search.msn.com
O1 - Hosts: 69.20.16.183 search.netscape.com
O9 - Extra button: Short Message - {00000000-0000-0001-0001-596BAEDD1289} - http://sms.3721.com/ie/index.htm (file missing)
O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {CD67F990-D8E9-11d2-98FE-00C0F0318AFE} - (no file)
O9 - Extra button: Messenger - {4528BBE0-4E08-11D5-AD55-00010333D0AD} - (no file)
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Yahoo! Messenger - {4528BBE0-4E08-11D5-AD55-00010333D0AD} - (no file)

Now, empty all your TEMP Folders (WinXp has up to 4 of them) / Temporary Internet Files Folder and then empty your "Recycle Bin" and reboot.

Are you on a Domain on this Computer?
Got any idea about these?
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\VxD\MSTCP: Domain = ibm.com

Thanks, Brad for your quick response and help.

Regarding your question ... that's my company domains. Sometime I will log onto my company from my cable ISP network.

Done your instructions and also ran ADWARE6.0 afterwards to remove some spywares, but it seems the problem is still there:
While restarting system, as soon as the desktop shown up on the screen, then this small window pops up, with two buttons "Close" and "Debug", this popup is quite often being seen in the MS Win environ.

"Expolrer has caused an error in MBLOCUSR.DLL. Explorer will now close. If you continue to experience problems, try restarting your computer"

If I chose closing it, then my screen goes to black, only Yahoo Messenger shown up there, I am not able to do anything. If I leave it there, then the system is usual.

Here's another annoying thing, not sure whether you could help me out?

I am using AdWare6.0/SpyBot/SpywareBlaster, but there are always sth cannot be removed. And the OS always load one unkown setup to configure the windows while every restart the windows, shown as
"Please wait, while setup updates your configuration files, This may take a few minutes ... Completed updating the files, Continuing to load the windows"

I tried the regedit thing, and try to find this unkown startup installer, but no sucess.

The Hijack log and Adware logs are pasted here ... there many popups, including look2me. the only one found by AdWare6.0 is the VX2, which seems AdWare cannot do anything about this.

This: CLSID\{DDFFA75A-E81D-4454-89FC-B9FD0631E726} is left-over from another Trojan/Hijacker.
Try the "Manual Removal" from Pest Patrol
