HiJackThis tutorial

I was about to start writing a bit of a tutorial for HiJackThis so more people could understand how to choose what to leave and what to remove, but luckily i did a quick search in google and found one that I think is pretty good.



just open HiJackThis, and hit the Scan button. Each line of information will start with a 2 or 3 digit code, such as 02... (which is the bho section). Simply use the link above, then click on the section you need more info about. You'll find that it is time consuming, but not extremely hard.

If you have a question about a specific line item, just post that line's info, and it'll save the time/space of not having 100's of full hijackthis logs!

I do not recommend anyone try using HijackThis to fix any problems unless they know what they are doing.

but keep the link close by....

Here's something to help decipher some of the links that show up in the log file:

Create a folder on your desktop,call it CWShredder
Install the app CWShredder in this folder
Open the folder,right click the exe file and choose create shortcut
(create the shortcut in that same folder)
Now right-click the shortcut and choose properties
In the TARGET field you will see something like this---yours will be a little different:

"C:\Documents and Settings\****\Desktop\Spyware+\cwshredder\CWShredder.exe"

You will want to add a space and then "/debug" without the quotes
It will look something like this:

"C:\Documents and Settings\****\Desktop\Spyware+\cwshredder\CWShredder.exe" /debug

Apply that-----Now when you open up the Shortcut to CWShredder you will see a domain field

So now you will be able to either type in the Domain into the blank field or copy and paste it from your log file...
Helps you figure out what entries are good or bad.
