This system has a number of infections it's better to use automated tools to get rid of most of the bad stuff.

Please download install it and update it but do not run a scan yet.

Next delete your temporary files by deleting all files and folders that are in these folders
Like for example:
C:\WINDOWS\Temp\
C:\Temp\
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp\
Also delete your Temporary Internet Files, be sure to also select delete all offline content.

Now reboot into safe mode:
Restart Windows after you see the BIOS screen and before Windows starts to load.
Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears.
Use the Arrow key to ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.

Once in safe mode run Ewido's full system scan and quarantine everything it finds.
Next save the scan report noting where you save it to.

Reboot the system in normal mode post the Ewido scan report and a new Hijackthis log into this thread.

Try booting into Safe Mode with Networking and run HiJackThis again.

Post the log here.

Also, when in safe mode go to Start > Run > MsConfig

Select 'Selective Startup'. Under the 'Startup' tab, deselect everything.

Try restarting normally.

This could be caused by a virus like blaster and sasser or maybe by something that ewido removed by mistake.
Don't worry all is not lost, you need to boot into safe mode with networking.

Restart Windows after you see the BIOS screen and before Windows starts to load.
Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears.
Use the Arrow key to ensure that the Safe Mode with networking option is selected.
Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode with networking.

You should now be able to access the internet and post the log files (ewido + hijackthis).
Once I see the log files I can tell you what to do to fix the loading/login problem.

If for some reason you can not get online you can use ewido to restore anything it removed.
It will work in safe mode just go to the quarantined section and restore everything.

MadMan,

Restart Windows after you see the BIOS screen and before Windows starts to load.
Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears.
Use the Arrow key to select Turn off automatic reboot on system failure (or something like that).
You should now get a blue screen of death with the an error message write down this error and post it back here.

Do you have a windows xp cd?
