xp home +sp2 Strange Browser Search Page +2 Blue Toolbars

Postby CanadianTek » Fri Feb 04, 2005 1:42 am

Hey Folks,

Got a bizarre one here..

Every now and then, without warning 2 search bars pop up on the bottom of the screen EVEN IF you are not in IE 6

has a little red "X" in corner, but it does not shut them down.

Have Spybotted, Ad-Awared, Bazooka'd, Spyware Blastered and Guarded, .. still no luck..

THEN RAN spy sweeper twice.. looked better, but "Hijack of home page and or search page keeps pooping up"

Had Zango, - had to go into DOS and delete the zangoinstaller.dll, zango.dll, and zango####.inf manually as .. bazooka said they were there, yet, when we looked in windows explorer, even with "show hidden files, show system files " - turned on.. they could still not be seen

anyway..

here is my HJT log file,

any assistance would be greatttttttttttly appreciated, thank you ;)

To rid yourself of the zango.dll and other.dll files you will need to download and

Run DllCompare click the run button and when you can click the Compare button, click it.
In a few minutes it will complete in blue text “Completed “
Click the button Make a Log of what was Found
This will identify the .dll files that windows cannot see, your files should be listed

In KillBox select Delete on Reboot and then from the
Dllcompare log copy & paste each full file path into the Killbox’s top.
Click the Red X and click Yes
A second message will ask to Reboot now? you will need to click No (untill all files are entered)
Do this for each file after the last file, click yes when asked to reboot.

After the reboot turn off System Restore. (Turn it back on after this is repaired and you've rebooted.)
Close all other open Windows and have HiJackThis Fix:
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://www.look.ca
O14 - IERESET.INF: START_PAGE_URL=http://www.look.ca

Now, empty all your TEMP Folders / Temporary Internet Files Folder and then empty your "Recycle Bin" and reboot.
