After I turn on my computer, and it boots up a straight line will be in the middle of the picture. There will be no view of the icons when it's done booting up. Is it the monitor itself, or idoes it have something to do with the computer.

It sounds like maybe your video card or the drivers for the video card.
When the system boots up can you see any text on the screen?

Try get to the Bios and see if the screen line problem still there.

If so, it is not the driver issue.

Check the video connection and reseat the video card(if dedicated)
also clean the video card lead pins and the video card slot.

Check and reseat the RAM as well.
Sometimes, poor RAM connection may cause the screen problem as well.

Hope this suggestion helps!
