infrared pnp serial port

i am running windows 98 and i have it networked with another computer running windows 98, its been working for months now but today when i turned on my computer it detected new hardward it was infrared pnp serial port its located in my network i tried to remove it but it comes back and i can't use my inter now on that computer whats going on can someone help me please

How do you connect to the internet?
Dial-up
DSL
Cable
Do you use a router?
