MNLOCUSR.DLL ?

Postby junkiesrevenge » Fri Jan 14, 2005 11:17 am

Hi,

A friend of mine has been having trouble with this module causing a page fault in Explorer on Windows ME startup, on every startup. When closing the error message Explorer crashes and does not come back, and when you reboot this lovely problem comes back again. Has anyone ever seen this DLL before, or knows what program(s) might be associated with it? Googling it doesn't help; I get unsatisfactory results and even a suggestion that I've misspelt it, even tho I haven't. That is the exact filename given on the error message and in the faultlog (see below). No such luck with Microsoft, either. I'm really quite curious as to what this is and how to fix it. I know that the DLL is not present on the hard drive at all. So far the only scans that have been done on it have been antivirus and AdAware; the only one that turned anything up was AdAware, and there were at least 100 objects that it turned up. It just seems rather odd to me that I can't find any information on this DLL.

I realize that I'm giving quite limited information on this, so whatever else you need to try and narrow it down just ask. Any help or insight anyone can give on this would be greatly appreciated.

I suspect that there is a registry call for this MNLOCUSR.DLL related to explorer.

From the start button click on run now type regedit and click OK
The first thing I want you to do is export your registry, in regedit click on “File”
and select “Export”, select your save location as C:\ (root)
and name the export something simple that you will remember.
With that done now select “Edit” and then select “Find” in the popup window
type MNLOCUSR.DLL and click the “Find Next” button
When it finds the reference to MNLOCUSR.DLL delete that value by right clicking on the value and selecting delete,
now press F3 to find next, do the same thing for every value of MNLOCUSR.DLL found pressing F3 until it is done searching.
Close regedit and reboot the system you should not get that error anymore.
